I have written the stages to optimization in the "google optimization" topic. Check it out. The google search optimization is also true for many other search engines. Having competed these steps (taking into consideration, that your web-site is already created, some steps would have to be omitted. Though do as many of them as possible), resubmit your web-site to the most popular and if possible to as many other web-searches as you can.

There are many things that come into play. i would suggest you get a SEO pro to work on it as it would be a better option coz half knowledge is dangerous.
